Rufus Griscom left his reliable salary and position as Editor and Director of New Media at Cader Books, a publisher of best-selling humor and entertainment titles, in order to found Nerve.com. Before working at Cader, he was Book Review Editor at The Free Press in Little Rock, Arkansas, and then Managing Editor for two years at August House. His writing has appeared in Publishers Weekly, The Baltimore Sun and The Wall Street Journal, among other places.

John Stagliano appeared in his first hardcore film in 1974, and began publishing his own porn zine in 1982. He produced his first video, Bouncing Buns, in 1983, and six years later created his own manufacturing company to sell his videos, which had begun to develop his famous Buttman character. He recently collaborated with Tristan Taormino to produce The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women, which took first place in two categories at this year's Adult Video News Awards.

Jerry Stahl has written for Esquire, Details and Playboy, among many others, as well as for TV and film. Early on in his career he worked at Hustler, Beaver and Club International, and wrote Cafe Flesh, considered a porn cult classic today. His acclaimed memoir, Permanent Midnight, about life on heroin in Hollywood, was made into a movie starring Ben Stiller. He is currently adapting his first novel, Perv — A Love Story, for a Showtime movie later this year, while completing a new novel, Upper Marilyn.
