woops that comment below was intended for the zadie smith excerpt above. i like the language in this one, rumps and loins, suddering and juddering (neologism?), truncheon meat, glaze him hard with spit of kiln-oven mouths -- sarah has an affection for language that comes through here ... compelling.

this scene feels like it would make more sense in context ... protagonist sounds ambivalent about the experience and the woman a bit cliched, but perhaps thats intentional
