Sweet Mystery of Life |

Joey thought he was doing me a favor. His uncle had introduced him to these girls before, and now that he had made the great discovery about sex, he wanted to share it with me. They took me to an apartment on North Broad Street, where we met the two girls, only they weren't girls exactly. They must have been about thirty and seemed like old women to me. Joey and his uncle were very relaxed. I was a little nervous, especially when the women started showing off their wares. Nice girls just didn't get into such positions. But overcoming my shyness, I went into another room with one of them and did what was expected of me. Joey swears that I came out singing, "Ah, sweet mystery of life, at last I've found thee," at the top of my lungs. And I probably did. Often, when words failed me, I would just start singing.
