This was Swinging London, and I was a pretty boy with very long hair. The first time I jumped in bed with anyone was with a Chelsea sophisticate named Suzanne. She was the Vamp of Savannah, and pointed to me after a Cheynes gig at the London School of Economics and said, "I want you." Everything in London was Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea, and she was a real Chelsea-ite, with lots of queer boyfriends and other things I had no idea about at all. That went on for a bit, my first excursion into the world of the pillow and sheet. (London, mid-1960s)
