The movie: Here at Nerve, we got the jump on cougar prowling when it was still primarily a north-of-the-border phenomenon. But since it's infiltrated our fair nation enough to elicit a new major-network prime-time TV show debuting this week (Courteney Cox's Cougar Town), we thought we'd feature one of the sexiest older woman/younger men films this side of Harold and Maude.

Don't worry, Y tu's protagonista is fifty-odd years Maude's junior — a little young, technically, to be a real cougar, but her conquests are still in their teens. The film's admittedly thin plot revolves around her accompanying two young guys on a road trip to look for a beach they promised to take her to (but invented) while they brag of their lame sexual exploits. The woman humors them, and ultimately decides to sleep with them.

The scene: Having already been with each separately (and awkwardly — they're definitely teenagers), she decides to play up their barely latent homoeroticism and get with them at the same time. She kisses one, then the other, they get her underwear off, then she drops to her knees to service them simultaneously. After a few seconds of that, one friend grabs the chin of the other and they proceed to make out. Damn!

What you need:
• a willing older woman
• two willing teenaged guys (where would you find those?)

The mechanics: As I wrote some weeks back apropos of Wild Things, the best way to make a threesome work is for two people to focus on one, then to switch and switch. The threesome in Y tu starts out that way with the guys teaming up on Luisa, our balloon-busted heroine. While one is passionately kissing her, the other helps get her negligee and then her panties off (the way the one turns her toward the other is especially good form). But just when it looks like they're going to give her some concentrated four-handed loving, she turns the tables by going down on them together.

For a lot of guys, and even I suspect for a lot of teenaged boys, whatever arousal and joy a blowjob would provide would quickly be undone by having to share the giving mouth with another member. (Since Y tu isn't X-rated, we don't see the actual act; I prefer to think she didn't cross the swords.) But just because I'm a little uptight doesn't mean you have to be; there are plenty of guys who'd like it that way, and plenty of women who could follow Luisa's lesson.

And gents, it's not an awful thing to kiss another man — five-o'clock shadow notwithstanding. Most elements of kissing a guy are similar enough to kissing a woman that even if it feels good, you don't have to question your orientation (if you're worried about that). And if you do end up really loving it, congratulations: you've just doubled your dating pool! I'll admit that many of us would be pretty traumatized to find out that we were more bi than we thought, but really, shouldn't we be willing to do a lot of things to please our female partners? Tons of women want to see guys kiss, so if it's in service of making them happy (and getting some service back), that's straight-up chivalry — and what's more manly than that?

Lesson we learn: One of the points of the film is that teenaged guys make awful lovers — not much of a surprise there. It's also pretty obvious that the director wanted to get across that male best friends can have feelings for each other that go a little beyond mere amity — and that's okay too. But what's most impressive and arousing about the movie is that Y tu manages to combine two of the most popular fantasies going: women imagining a two-boy threesome where the boys actually get it on a little, and guys daydreaming about an older, experienced hottie who takes them under wing. So viva Y tu mamá también for showing us how to merge the two.
