Do You Douche? A Short Film
A montage of vintage commercials from the glory days of vaginal rinsing.
By Kelly Bourdet
The glory days of douching are behind us. We now know that washing out your vagina with Lysol and/or a salad-dressing-like concoction does not, in fact, make you smell better, less prone to infection, or keep you from getting pregnant. But the internet is a wealth of information. And some of that wealth comes in the form of vintage douche commercials.
Enjoy the montage.

That's just sick.
Creepy.
why is the word douche funny always? always!
yea, and in dutch it means 'shower'.
In french too!
hilarious
Implausible scenarios, sketchy conversations, awkwardly suggestive imagery - it's like the missing link between mainstream commercials and porn.
Awesome
Mom, can I ask ya somethin' real personal?
Do you douche?
I SURE DO!
Laughing my ass off, because the ad that pops up on my page is "A sprayed behind is a clean behind!" Yup, that's what needs the cleaning!
CReppy soo soo creepy
The future ob/gyn in me kept making this face the whole time...
D-:
The mother in the last clip seemed to be talking to her daughter in an strangely romantic way.
Douche in the Dutch language actually means 'shower'. I find it very unsettling that the same word is being used to describe another type of shower.
The girl on the first part would have been better asking her mother to borrow eyebrow tweezers.
Actually, the one on the boat, with the orange scarf in her hair.
Now I get why you Americans use the term douche at all. They're unknown in Australia.
hey what is that smell?
I learned years ago that masturbation works much better.
creepy
hey, at least their fresh
Were they available in six packs and kegs?
"If it smells like fish, must be delish. If it smells like spray, stay away"
oh my god.
i actually remember when these commercials were on tv. it would be so embarassing if they came on when you were watching tv with your parents. like, "should I be asking my mom about douches right now?" ahaha
it's hard to believe that the word douchebag as an insult is so conventional now.
I totally remember these, too, and the uncomfortable feeling. They came on during the soaps, which my grandmother would watch. Every commercial break, these came on.
It's spooky how celver some ppl are. Thanks!
