I didn't see San Diego on the list, but believe me, there were some great bars to fool around in years ago. Out in the beach areas, two come to mind, the Bratskellar, overlooking La Jolla Cove and Bullys, La Jolla. Both dark with red plush chairs and great cheap drinks. Stag flight attendants and sleek women working in offices. Muted music so one could carry on conversation. Jammed on Friday nights as singles heated up the place arranging for the weekend. 95 cent mixed drinks, 75 cent bottles of beer. Pitchers for a dollar or so. Another La Jolla place was the White Whale, full of hippie women and bikers, as was Maynards in Pacific Beach. By 10 pm couples smooching and leaving together for places unknown. El Sombrero and the Court Room, the last beer and wine bars in La Jolla, full of music and fun. All gone now, now is 6 dollar margaritas and 3 dollar bottles of San Miguel. Outrageous.

Interesting question: (for me at least) I have the print issue that the article was in. I live in Boston. I notice that all of the bars except the Boston one were in my issue. Was it left out, or do you have different issues for different cities? By the way I really like the magazine. Did you discontinue the print issue?

It's a shame the author didn't know about the real dins of iniquity in this beautiful city. Bars where strippers go to have fun when they leave work early on a slow night. The night they came into my favorite bar and coerced the few guys there into a game of truth or dare that fulfilled the mens fantasies and left them questioning their manhood. Or dark gay leather bars where body shots are done from whole unusual places. Bars you find yourself in at 10a.m., having never made it home, kissing beautiful boys in town for just a week. Bars where little goth girls dance half naked on the bar for friends instead of tips and the bartender revels in her military fetish with her tongue on a good friends medals. In this wonderous city desire isn't so much found where it's announced as it sit down next to you and introduces itself with a sly smile.

I was looking for your reference to San Francisco but it wasn't in the article. We will be going there early next week, is the rest of the article going to be published by then? Mary mmm_217@yahoo.com
