i agree with you that the subsequent scenes in Emmanuelle are better than the plane one, but this column had to be written as part of nerve's Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Issue, so i was constrained. in any case, thanks for the comments, and happy bi-lingualing.

I know you'll label me a snob on this one and I can't help but laugh already.
Being born in France, Emmanuelle et Histoire D'O were some of my first erotic raedings. Now, as a french speaker living in the U.S., I do understand that text gets lost in translation, but tell me why, when it is already rare enough to find a spicy bit of erotic writing, you chose the masturbation scene in Emmanuelle. I personnally think, if you read the chapter that follows, where Emmanuelle has sex with her cabin neighbour while 2 young children are watching, that it is much more interesting for your readers than a bit of masturbation on a plane. I will also mention the next scene where she has sex with a greek colosse in the restroom darling.
From reading the book prior to seing the movie (I stole the book from my older brother), I hope you will agree that the movie was a disappointment. Or maybe it was simply that my imagination ws more fertile and that the visual was deceiving. Who knows. Please don't mind me, reading you I just thought you could do a lot better...
