Maybe we shouldn't be asking why "hot mamas" exist, because they have always been with us; but rather, why are younger men viewing older women as a viable alternative to their more lithesome peers? Has our society and culture become so superficial that men fear commitment because of the BIG D (divorce) and its ensuing costs, both in terms of the financial and paternal price they may one day be forced to pay?

With an aging population, it makes sense that more attention will be paid to the sexuality of older adults. As a widower in my fifties, I have discovered the joys of being with sexually experienced and passionate women my age. I think my maturity adds to my partner's pleasure as well.

Ah, yes, the generational divide. Old people's bodies sag in the wrong spots, so the sex must be gross. Well, practice may not make perfect, but it does provide a degree of expertise not normally found in gum snapping hard bodies. Likewise, having sex with the same partner for a couple of decades does not necessarily have to mean monotony. It can also mean an economy of effort to bring one's partner off. As such, while there's little time for sex tending to kids and jobs and the like, you can pretty much be certain both of you will reach a "happy ending" in the 15 or so minutes available to do the dirty deed before falling asleep with the 11 o'clock news on. And then, of course, there are the weekends away when you can really get down and dirty the way you did when you first met. The difference is, of course, you know what you're doing now.

it baffles me that this is so groundbreaking. has anyone ever heard of "anna karenina" or "madame bovary"? if anything, it just shows how out of touch most "wholesome" americans are with the obvious. i'm tired of hearing how moral the red states are and then rejoicing along with them when they prove not to be so different after all, while allowing them to maintain their moral highground. bitter? Exactly who is projecting chastity on married women over 40? Could it be those under 30, or those who are commitment phobic? Who would want to divorce a warm and desireable woman or man, for that matter? It only stands to reason that some of the people who are the best at loving are taken and their mates are holding on for dear life. Perhaps the newfound sexuality of people in their late teens and twenties has their egos and libidos reeling. They want to believe that they are the first generation to discover sex, and it gives them a sense of one-upmanship with their parents. Sorry, in this area, the 20-somethings must also wave the flag of surrender, because they have no true wealth, power, life-experience or artfully crafted sexuality. Once again, their rebellion and need to compete, falls upon the deaf ears of their more seasoned elders. Could it be that our children will have to respect us for our ability to get laid as well as our expertise in putting out a pretty mean tuna casserole?

The MILF's a quirky and interesting trend. It seems to balance out the metality of older men lusting after younger women. A certain insincere form of retribution..
Maybe it sounds a little Freudian, but in contrasts the steps women have taken to escape a sense of sexual discretion quite perfectly. As though the history of suppression leaves women seconded by their sexual desires. The fact that women never allow themselfs to be seconded, or settle is what makes them desirable and a source of admiration - not the other way around.
