Reader Feedback on "Sex and the Single Superhero"
I enjoyed the "Sex and the Single Superhero" feature, but I was disappointed that every example was from either Marvel or D.C. Even ignoring the many designated adult comics, there have been plenty of controversial sex scenes in indies. Two that come to mind: the issue of CEREBUS where Cerebus gags and rapes his already-bound victim (which was later made worse when she explained that she was trying to get him to make her pregnant; yes, even though her thought balloons were all repulsion and resistance, it turns out that he wasn't raping her but "she was asking for it"), and the cover of the ELEMENTALS Sex Special that showed a naked Fathom quite happily cavorting with a dolphin.
Just because they're independents doesn't mean they should be skipped. --JL 06/10 |
RE: The Captain America/Sharon Carter Bahamas getaway
I can't believe I still have this mag:
Captain America and the Falcon Issue 155 is dated November 1972. It was a 70's comic, not the 60's as mentioned in an otherwise fine article. --LL 02/06 |
