I've been to Fukuoka many times, and never found this place. What I would like to know is it Gaijin Friendly?

I would "second" you on the Ho-Hum aspect of yet another piece about a foreign swingers club, P., EXCEPT that the author should be applauded for her attempt to set the scene and explain the goings-on without that stupid giggling, gawking, omigod...ewwwwwww!!!!!-factor that most such articles contain. Nice job.

Hi Noy, I like your piece. It is an interesting look at Japan, but also the universal issues of sexual identity, psychology and desire. I lived in Japan as "Gaijin" student some 25 years ago and am not so surprised by the changes. I wonder if some of it is the result of advertising and the media. By this I mean that as images [sexual or otherwise]become more common they become less shocking generationally but the basic human emmotional drive still seeks whatever it seeks. I have also experimented with an S&M mistress [a secret form my wife, as with your recent encounter in Japan] and I agree with your feelings in the end. The unsaids are still there, just in a new form which has not yet become oppressive.

I wish she wrote more about these places in it's social context. japan is a very repressed culture so the reasons these places exist are interesting.

Orgies in the highly structured and stress filled culture that is Japan are an entirely different allegory from those in America's "anything goes" culture. This is an outlet of tension, a respite from social norms and it is not deemed a communal activity...you go to escape your burdens and your "real world" identity. From what I've seen in the US, orgies are the domain of overweight, aging white people that are trapped socially in their high school personas...they have nothing to vent or escape from other than possibly the end result of years of gluttony and consumerism.
