That was such a powerful short story! I really enjoyed reading the description of tattoo and its process, the rich themes of death (I like the metaphorical detail of a person and its invisible twin, death--I actually said "wow" aloud) and love/lust, aaaand the captivating characters.
You're an amazing writer, Ms. Gamble, and I hope to be a quarter as good as you! --AL 04/01 |
Devastatingly beautiful. I can never hope to write something so touching. Thank you for this. It's my life.

Linked across from Sequential Tart,
I liked this. I wish I was better at expressing *why*.
Nice themes. The big ones, y'know? Age and innocence and death, and death of passion. Er, that sounds wanky. I don't mean it to be.
The tattooing, very nice. --PH 12/02 |
This was so beautiful, such absolutely beautiful writing. Amazing! --sc 09/20 |

This is definitely one of the best short stories I've ever read. I've already referred it to a few friends --MP 09/16 |
I started reading "Blue Star" three times, but each time I stopped to wait until a time when I could give it my full attention. It was unexpected. Tattoos and blood are powerful for me and likely for most people, but the unconcerned way they were included in the story, just as they are in life, was so good to be part of.
I don't suppose it hurt that I've always wanted a blue star tattoed on my back. This was a vicarious tattoo. And fuck. --km 09/15 |
Loved this. I just recently had my eyebrow pierced in a tattoo parlor, and loved the sensation so much, I've started saving for a tatty. :)
Beautiful, rich characters here. Thank you!

Almost made me cry and I never cry reading. Films, sometimes. Music, sometimes. Fiction, never. --CB 09/13 |
Although I don't really like the last two paragraphs of the story, I just love love love the story. --RR 09/13 |
