I thought the episode you aired on HBO was great. I am a big fan of all things pop culture. You all have done a great job of combining sex with many aspects of pop culture (i.e film and music, etc.) and that last episode truly caught my attention for its duration. My one question is, how can I get a hold of the sountrack, or at least a listing of the songs, used throughout the show. I love electronic music, as well as many other forms of eclectic music, so I have been dying to get my hands on those songs ever since I saw the show over a month ago. I saw "Nerve.com: Downloading Sex" LAST NIGHT for the first time. And it was absolutely PHENOMENAL! I was blown away by the imagery, music and content. It's a one-of-a-kind endeavor. Downloading Sex" captures the viewer by all 5 senses, and tantalizes the imagination with its crude, honest, exciting themes. It is the perfect representation of sexuality in my generation. I loved the bartender at the "family resturant" who was interviewed about anal sex. He was charming, knowledgable, witty and had a dazzling vocabulary. I really dig that about men. Get more guys like him!!! I think my favorite aspect to the show, besides the content, was the musical score. Those house music interludes were the perfect segue between scenes. Totally stunned is the only way I can describe the show. I say this because, as briefly as I can put it, when the Twin Towers crashed, so did my relationship with then boyfriend Sebastien. On September 14th he moved back to Paris and we have not spoke since. Your show, "Downloading Sex" happened to capture the two of us kissing (in the segway segment after the Icelandic Penis before the Anal Sex Bar piece.) I was disappointed with the Nerve HBO show. Some of the parts were funny, no doubt, but for the most part there was nothing particularly innovative or original about it. The progressive office party was nothing new--certainly nothing that hasn't already aired on Real Sex or during countless fraternity parties. Besides, the party goers spent so much time mugging for the camera, we simply saw silly, drunk people. Nothing erotic or interesting in that. Lisa Carver's door to door on backdoor sex was amusing but didn't really uncover anything new or interesting about anal play. It seemed much more about Lisa's reactions to the responses she got than about the responses. I think HBO will stick with Real Sex rather than try it with Nerve again. Some things, like this site and your magazine simply don't translate into good television.

�Downloading Sex� was tantalizing and thought provoking. However the program seemed to be exploring more of the female sexual experience than the male experience. Where was the male point of view? The only time the male point of view was being seriously considered was when it dealt with a women�s pleasure or experiences. The Anal Sex Survey with Lisa Cavar did focus on the male experience of anal sex, but it started with the question of how many women participate in anal sex. How to coax or lure a women into participating in Anal Sex? The most that was shown on men�s sexual experience was during the office party. Nerve.com has given us a very open and honest view of certain topics on sexuality like �Anal Sex� for women, the pictorial and open experiences of Natacha Merritt, and the short clips of women masturbating. I found �Downloading Sex� to be very interesting and informative but gender bias in the way of women just the same. Will Nerve.com show some real hairy balls and deal with male Sexual Experiences, hetero-sexual as well a s homo-sexual as well?

I thought I would miss your show because I went out of town on a road trip. As it turned out, I caught it a couple of times- thank goodness everyone boasts to have HBO in their rooms. I really enjoyed the "Studies in Masturbation" scenes. Very sexy. The audio track of the man, woman, and dog was great, too. I thought, "Not bad for a first show." I was a little disappointed with the office party footage though. Not that it was bad; it's just that I live in NYC so seeing another office party/club scene kinda thing was a little bit wasted on me. I would have liked to have seen more interviews on more topics, or more creative audio or video in the place of that. All in all, I think you guys have something. Maybe you could help HBO get a little better with their "ShockVideo" production in the process. Great work. I'll keep looking out for it.

However, it is not at all clear if "Downloading Sex" is planned to be a series (regular or irregular) or a one-time special. To the people at Nerve, I'm a big fan of Nerve-- I dig your magazine (what's up with that? It's been months since I've seen a new issue) I love your book, and I probably spend more time on your web site than any other. I know you figured you'd put that stuff in to keep people from changing the channel, but it just turned me off. The best part of the show was the Natasha Merrit part, 'cause I'm a big fan, but it was just too short. I would say focus more on reportage. There's gotta be lots of stories, in NYC, involving strange sex practices, underground sex stuff, bizzare people, etc. You have a uniquie place here. Your show in similar to Real Sex, but that show, unfortunately, often delves into silly white trash stuff like the Texas flirting contest. But you have the market cornered on smart, college-edjucated, young attractive sex-oriented stuff. Focus on what you do best. Don't turn your show into Cribs, it doesn't have to be flashy. Keep it sexy. Smart. Unusual. Keep 'em coming, but change the way it looks. Quick-cuts aren't neccesarily interesting. Sex is interesting.

The show was okay. Hot at some points, not at others. It seemed tht HBO turned it into one of their standard slick sex TV shows. I was hoping it would be different and concentrate, at least a little bit, on the website. The personal ads and chat rooms weren't even mentioned. When I first saw the Nerve site, I thought it was really funny and could actually be very entertaining. Unfortunately your attempt at a TV show was truly a turn off. It was so bad that my girlfriend and I, who get it on regularly, were completely uninterested in having any sex following the show and we shut it off half way through. All you did was take the website and put it on TV - what is the point of this? What is so interesting about watching a woman masturbate? This was done by Andy Warhol about 34 years ago in a short film that showed a man from the chest up, getting a blow job. I can only assume that your target audience is first year college students and younger. And what is the deal with Natacha? She is absolutely pathetic! She gives no reason for wanting to photograph sex other than that she thinks it's "sexy." What an idiot. Although, I'm sure teenage boys fantasize about her regularly. Most absurd was the complete waste of airtime by showing an .mp3 being played - what the hell is the point of that? And what is so interesting about sex in NYC? Isn't that what Sex In The City is all about? No one wants to see a bunch of dot commers dealing with the cliche - nerds are sexy thing. Please. I have to think HBO will be taking this show out of it's lineup before next month. Please put some thought into why you are interested in writing about sex in the first place. Please raise your standards - there are countless filmmakers who I'm sure would die at the chance to get their break on HBO - don't abuse it.

I saw Nerve.com for the first time tonight on HBO and then i went on the internet to check out the site. Let me say I was thoroughly impressed with the show. It has a sort of contemporary meets exhibitionist sex look. There is an artistry involved in format that actually portrays sex as an art form, and yet fun at the same time. Nothing is too taboo for nerve.com and i for one am appreciative of it's free portrayal of sex. It is a rather much needed break from the monotonous puritanical views of sex that surround many. Well, I just saw your episode of "Nerve.com: Downloading Sex" on HBO and I thought it was great! I am a teenager (17) just discovering my sexuality and I think it is very helpful for people like me as encouragement that sex is OK. Overall I liked the show. My wife and I want to know how to apply for positions within your organization. Your office parties are much more lively than the ones we've attended in the past. As for the show itself. I liked Lisa. She interested me. And, if Lisa ever wants to try anal with a guy who actually knows how to get a woman to relax and enjoy it she can contact me. too much on-air time spent on transition art (i.e., the flashy, quick-shot frames between actual content). the "nerve office party" was crap. let's face it, this is an HBO production and they are notorious for staging extravagent products and claiming them as part of an "annual" event; e.g., the "flirt-fest" on Lake Travis in Texas, the g-string Divas series that was shot at a staged strip club (which no longer exists), etc. the best, seemingly real shot of nerve staff was the opening scene, but I suspect that was even staged; i.e., the show of surprise and show of hands on whether or not to do the HBO thing -- doesn't seem plausible that an HBO film crew would show up if the Nerve staff hadn't already agreed. However, there was some good stuff. Lisa's stuff, the female masturbation scene, the mp3 sex sounds w/dog ... all good stuff. Bravo! Your show was quite entertaining and informative. It asked some funny questions (ie do you like anal sex)to real people. Your shot of your holiday party was simple impressive. (How does one get to work with your company?) The Nerve.com show was about sex and lust in its pure and honest form. The female masturbation segment, was an example of this....women do it, men do it so what. I would love to see more of the honesty on your future shows. (Remember I want an interview...) Keep up the great work!

Saw the show last night. It was okay. Nothing we haven't seen before on "Real Sex" or "Sex Bytes", that's for sure. Pluses: Natasha Merritt and the female masturbation segments. Minuses: Lisa Carver interviews, penis museums, and some dude with a solar powered fuck machine. You guys should spend a little less time with the fancy graphics in between segments and a little more time on the stories themselves. The cartoons and "position of the week" work well as filler for an internet page, but not on a 45 minute tv show. Plus, who gives a shit about your office party? We already know N is a cool place to work. Stick with whats made N a cool place to SURF -- great fiction and non-fiction, photography, the artists edge, interesting people. Don't try to be "Real Sex", "Sex Bytes" and "Shock Video" all wrapped up in one show. We've already seen those shows, and they do it better than you.
