Groupies. It always amazed me to see how many girls would throw themselves on skinny, semi-articulate band members, such as Gary Puckett and the Union Gap back in the late 60s in a rock club in a bowling alley in San Diego. The group outsold the Beatles in 1968. I often went to a beer-wine bar in La Jolla called the White Whale and it was full of often stunning hippie girls who would often hitchhike there and get picked up by midnight. Girls and women of all ages would toss underwear and tel numbers to the Rolling Stones at every stop or concert. Many men would wonder, as many of us did since junior high, "What in hell does that knockout babe see in that wanna be rocker?" So it goes.
