Beautifully written; poignant, not too self-indulgent, witty and wise all at the same time. Thanks for sharing! As up and coming (don't take that the wrong way) actor/writer, I can relate on so many levels. --LB 03/13 |
By the way, sorry if it sounded like I was bashing you Paul. I think I'm as frustrated with the way I get caught up in this line of thought as I was with hearing it again in your piece.

Wow. Lively conversation here...
I guess we all suffer from this. I once read a book about the struggle between the sexual equality and sexual liberation movements. It's a bit dated now, but interesting history. I sometimes wonder what we've lost by putting forth all these hyper-masculine, "normal" white guys as the faces of our community. I think we have far less good sex now than we could otherwise. There's a lot more judgement, performance, and loneliness in our community than there needs to be. It seems like that's something that a lot of people sense, and that we could work on - though I'm not exactly sure how, since attraction is as personal as it is social.
Thoughts anyone?? --rm 03/07 |
They never do! It's always "I love the big cock. Why doesn't the big cock love me back?" --at 03/07 |
For what it's worth, I (the writer) don't find my sexual tastes either cosmopolitan or liberated. Think how many people you're senselessly ruling out! Having a type is a confinement, a limitation. It's something I suffer from. --pf 03/07 |
probably doesn't see that... --A.W. 03/07 |
i wonder if that's what the author is saying here. or if he still doesn't recognize his part in creating this cycle of hurt? --mdm 03/07 |
The search for the perfect body seems to be what fucks gay men over every time. When will we learn? --LM 03/07 |
Everytime I hear a gay man refer to a "skinny, well hung, butch and athletic in bed" guy as "his type", I'm taken straight back to straight boy high school talk. I'm left wondering when we'll get a story from some guy who calls "skinny, tight, feminine, and wild in bed" girls "his type" - and why that seems laughable, while the gay equivilent is somehow passed off as cosmopolitan and liberated.
I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on this... --rm 03/07 |
