Simply tasty. Thanks a lot. --LFF 11/11 |
ahhhhh yes......i too had a similar experience though i was chosen and haggled for two weeks after having declined....no friends would attend the taping with me and all vowed to disown me should i have accepted...."i'm a horny girl!!!" "i'm a horny girl!!!" turned into my inadvertent mantra, which would have made a lovely thought bubble or pull-toy blurb indeed....
btw: did you ever get your $10 for completing the taping? the actual payment isn't anywhere close to $500, a mere $100 minus the aforementioned $10, unless of course you forgot to cross out the uncensored video portion of the questionnaire...good thing you didn't strip...

I have not literally "laughed out loud" at something in a long time, and I was busting a gut when I read this-- yet another reason I shouldn't be cruising the nerve pages at work. Carrie rocks! --sr 10/24 |
Really FUNNY. Loved it. --sf 10/23 |

"Now that I was speaking instead of writing, funny and careless were a lot more difficult." Actually, when you drop the idea of who you think you are, you actually manage to be quite clever, touching, and engaging. But most of the time your writing comes off as though you were speaking about someone other than you: an idea of you that you have, maybe, or that someone else thinks you should be. Drop the affectation, because when drop the pretense your writing actually manages to come off as you would like: casual, funny, open, clever, and intelligent. But those times are fewer than the whisky-drenched, unattached, LES, boxer chaser you seem to fancy yourself. Keep it up, you're on to something... but not there yet. --ME 10/23 |
great, just great. even better than the last one. --np 10/22 |
oh, man, that was incredibly funny and well-written. i hope you win some kind of prize for it. i've never sent feedback to nerve before, but, carrie, rock on! --sjb 10/22 |
You're almost there. --AM 10/21 |
hi carrie. i'm going to re-read your article but first I have to manage a way to get out of these hand cuffs that are holding me to the bed so I can sell all my hats and do a line. can I call you then? maybe we can get together. --gs 10/21 |
Very funny and clever story. I wonder if Carrie is as snotty in real life as her narrative voice? (I mean, writing down your SAT scores? wtf?). Well, but otherwise you seem like a charming young lady. PS I hate the world. --NK 10/21 |
"Well, it was silly of you to do it," my mother said. "You shouldn't waste your time on things that aren't worth your emotional involvement, because you're going to end up emotionally involved anyway."
Your mother is a wise woman, you lucky girl. I wrote that line down and shared it with my sister and girlfriends. That is a very succinct philosophy with many valuable applications!

Tell Carrie that I was a Location Producer for Blind Date NYC - i.e. I planned the dates - and if she wants I will plan her a fabulous date so she can have a great time without having to go through the machinations of being made out to be a slut on tv during a 12 hour production day. GREAT ARTICLE!!!! --BB 10/21 |
Up against the wall... --ajh 10/21 |
Carrie:
If only you'd write more about the shitty date experiences and less about the near misses you might become an interesting read. Learning about the tat and against the wall was nice. More of the same please. --jmj 10/21 |
"it wasn't really shyness or moral compunction getting in my way but the knowledge that no matter how funny a story it would make..." What? No matter what? Editing, jeez --sj 10/21 |
up against the wall, yeah... --tca 10/21 |
I'm at work and I'm trying to pretend that I'm reading some important work-related document but I can't help but laugh my ass off as I read your article (giving myself away completely)
good stuff!
