I think your advice to Uncertain Someone was unfair, saying "This guy is the worst not-boyfriend ever."
The guy was upfront with her about being in love with someone else, she's the one creating the drama. Considering how many men (and women) will lie in this situation, I think the guy should be commended for his honesty.

I'd be willing to bet, er, money, that your boyfriend's money habits, as bad as they are in and of themselves, are also a sign of a larger self-esteem issue of some sort. Speaking from experience....
