I think that, because there's a whole range of options beyond heavy-serious and slutty hookup, that's exactly why you need to be ready to explain your own personal do's and don'ts -- a few times over if someone is worth pursuing. All the inbetween types of relationships don't have clear names and traits (thankfully -- do we really want to return to the "going steady" phase of the 50s, EB?). But each couple can design their own relationship style -- they just have to be willing to talk it out.

My thoughts on TMI-- I don't think he's being the asshole, but neither is the girl in question. Especially if they're just casually dating, it's not unreasonable for her to feel unconstrained by his rule, particularly when the rule was stated at the outset as a fiat rather than a bargained-for exchange. I'd advise him to talk openly with the girl about whether or not she will agree to sign on to DADT from here on out (and be ready to be flexible--he is asking her to give up her freedom to say what's on her mind in an admittedly casual relationship), and if she's not and it's a dealbreaker, bounce.

Sorry FYI. I have nothing against salsa dancing personally. And I have much love for the condiment. You don't even know. I think it's just that "salsa dancing" is such a 30/40something stereotype for a date idea. BE DIFFERENT! TAKE HER SALSA DANCING! Blah. It's prob just me rebelling against my own mortality.
