les voleurs (thieves) catherine deneuve taking a bath with the girl, mmm... "the hunger", sure, but also an artsy silly movie called "hihg art" has a nice sex scene. lynch's new movie " mullholland drive" also has a very sensual scnene between women. "aime et jaguar" tambien.

No - the greatest sex scene of all time is the one with the raw egg in "Tampopo" - there's no sex at all, and there's also nothing else. And for realism - Nick Roeg again: the hurried fuck on the stairs in "Bad Timing", a movie nobody seems to have seen.

The hottest sex scene to me was one that didn't show anything. The scene in Summer of '42 between the kid and Jennifer Oneil. No sound, no nudity, just the knowledge that every male teenager's fantasy is gonna come true right before our eyes. That scene turned me on more than any in film--even including pornos.

Risky Business on the stairs. Rebecca riding Tom Cruise aka Joel in the old L in Chicago. Gets me wet everytime. MMMMMMM!

I would have thought that the first 5 minutes of "Betty Blue - 32deg Matin" would have gotten a vote or three..... Of course that deliciously ugly sex scene in the mouldy meat delivery van in Peter Greenaway's "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, Her Lover" and the subsequent humiliation of the cold combined bathing coupled with the revenge and counter-revenge of the rest of the movie is so amazingly provacative it gets me every time I see it...... While we are on the bent scene, what about Greenaway's 'A Zed and Two Zeros', animal auto erotica at it's finest.

No, Ren, it is you who needs to rent the Big Chill. It's Tom Berenger (note spelling) who plays Sam Weber, the Magnum PI-like TV star and Kevin Kline plays Harold Cooper who is married to Sarah Cooper played by Close (note the same last name, hint hint) and it is he who has sex with Meg/Mary Kay Place. Internet movie database confirms this -- http://us.imdb.com/Title?0085244. Plus, I just watched it a week ago.

Time to rent the movie - Mary Kay Place has sex with Tom Berrigan, the sport shoe mogul and accommodating hubby, not Kevin Kline. Kline plays the burnout Magnus P.I.-type TV star. My vote goes to Gwenneth Paltrow and Joseph Fiennes in "Shakespeare In Love" - The intercutting between Romeo & Juliet rehearsals and the frenzied bedroom scenes with all that R&J dialogue tying it together.... I don't know: must be something about those ink-stained fingers on gauzy white Elizabethan undergarments.

One of my favorite cinematic sex scenes is between Mickey Rourke and Lisa Bonet in "Angel Heart." I've heard tell that the two succumbed to the passion of the tableau during the shot and fully indulged in the white hot passion of the moment they were portraying.

You forgot a good one, certainly one of the most hysterical. In The Tall Guy (1989), Jeff Goldblum and Emma Thompson perform, what must be, the most destructive sex scene in movie history. A turn on for anyone with a gram of anarchy in their veins.

Good call, those of you who mentioned The Tall Guy. But what about Damage? Everytime I even think about that movie, I have to light a cigarette.

re Microcosmos: you don't have half the story! I once had a pair of snails as pets--the escargot variety (how I got them is another story). (I was a biology major, which explains some of this). Anyway, snails are hermaphroditic--i.e. they have both kinds of sex organs. Somehow they would figure out who was who in the encounter. Get this, though: in order for the "male" to stimulate the "female" (these ARE slugs, mind you), "he" would spear "her" with a calcareous spike about 1/4 inch long (the snails were barely 2 inches). I could tell they'd been doing it because of the leftover spike--and, of course, the slime!

You guys forgot "The Tall Guy"!! Mediocre movie; AMAZING sex scene. Jeff Goldblum and Emma Thompson (yes, "Howard's End" Emma Thompson) take the mid-day fuck to a new level by demolishing the apartment they are in. It is quite an amazing feat of sexual energy. Check it out.

The sexiest scene I've ever seen in the movies is in a generally bad movie, *Diary of a Mad Housewife* but when they make love the screen becomes a wall of flesh, with a single undulating line indicating where their two bodies join.

I love this one scene in The English Patient... When Fiennes sticks his thumb in Krist Scott Thomas' mouth while they do it next to a window while the troops and her husbad are outside, singing Silent Night, in the desert sun...

You missed the best one of all. Absolutely nothing can top the apartment-trashing romp of Jeff Goldblum and Emma Thompson in "The Tall Guy". It makes an otherwise forgettable flick a must buy.

I love Joey Cavella for choosing Microcosmos. You must be a beautiful man with a beautiful sense of humor. Ahh. I want to watch Microcosmos again. Thanks for brightening my day.
