Reader Feedback on "Scanner"
Two things:
First, the user complaints about the personals have nothing to do with the transition proccess. Our complaints have to do with the fact that we use the personals as a way to participate in an online community of the sort that Nerve used to be and we feeled screwed. The new system is ugly, money-grubbing and highly suspect across the board.
Second, that was a nice spin you put on the Pink-nun because you like her shows. She promotes chastity until marriage and espouses that any form of sexual activity outside of marriage is wrong. As same-sex couples cannot marry this leaves them to be chaste forever. While the Pink-nun says that she does not dislike queers or think that same-sex relationships are wrong she avoids saying how they fit into her no sex without the ring world view. --AJS 09/15 |
I think it's good that you made the distinction between "NERVE" & "nerve.personals" but I think that the two entities are inextricably linked. I think that because nerve personals were essentially unique and enigmatic when the only options for personals on the web were match.com and its ilk has given its users some degree of expectation that nerve personals would continue to be easy to use and not laced with bullshit.
that has most definitely changed. I used to be able to look at the personal of the day without signing in to the personals separate from my nerve login. I used to be able to look at siege then go right to the personals w/o extra hassle and the effect was one of seamless integration.
I still love nerve, but I've cancelled my nerve personals account because I've fallen prey to the warnings about Mr. Cornu and I really don't like what's been done to change things. I mean, even after logging into the personals site, then going back to the nerve window and clicking on the personal of the day, I still can't look at her profile.
I really think that unless it's part of the contract that nerve stay in the name, y'all should get nerve out of the name for this new personals entity. it's demeaning. it is not nerve-y
but I still love what you do with the scanner. and your other writing is great too. but I still need to read the piece about the 64 pregnant teens @ one school in NE Ohio.
thanks for doing what you do. sorry to make you look through all my bs to get to the compliments. --roc 09/13 |
It's unfortunate that Nerve licensed its name to the incompetents who are running the Personals site. They are damaging the quality of your brand, and if I were your corporate counsel, I'd be looking into getting money from them and/or cancelling the license. (And if I were them, I'd be refunding a lot of money lest I get a call from the New York Attorney General's Consumer Fraud Division.) --REM 09/13 |
This is some of the better writing on this site. Skip the sex@work issue. -- 09/13 |
