Again, interviewing an Israeli soldier is the equivalent of a "man on the street" interview - everyone joins the army. The majority don't end up in anything even resembling combat.
There's a difference between interviewing a Palestinian or a Palestinian-Israeli (a Palestinian who lives within Israeli borders) and someone who has directly been involved in terrorist activity. Similarly, there is a difference between an Israeli soldier and someone who has necessarily been directly involved in Palestinian oppression.
Essentially what I'm saying is that if you have a problem with a soldier being interviewed, you have a problem with an Israeli being interviewed.
I think it would be very interesting to have the Palestinian perspective - again, that doesn't mean interviewing "freedom fighters" but the average Palestinian on the street. . .I'm guessing many would be offended if you were to assume that they would automatically be involved in "militant" activity just b/c they were Palestinian, BK.

Do people not realize that service in the Israeli army is mandatory for all citizens. . .and that the majority of them will end up working in offices or doing work behind the scenes and not protecting illegal settlements and bulldozing Palestinian homes?
Whatever one thinks about Nerve's editorial choice of fetishizing the military (if that's what you think they are doing), comparing the Israeli/Palestinian conflict to Apartheid is an oversimplified, ignorant view of a very complicated situation and calling Israeli soldiers Nazis? Military service is compulsory in Israel, so this article is essentially nothing more than "Sex Advice From Israeli Twentysomethings". Besides, the odds that any of these young soldiers has ever bulldozed a Palestinian home are close to nil. Besides, since when do soldiers (in ANY military) have any influence in the policy decisions that lead to such actions? Blame Likud and Hamas for these tragedies, not the low-level soldiers who are just trying to serve their country and get on with their lives.

Nerve is fetishizing advice from a military that has been conducting an inhumane colonial occupation against the Palestinians for nearly half a century. The human suffering they cause is horrific. I certainly don't want to enter into an inflammatory political debate, and I undersand that the histories of Israel and Palestine are complicated. Having said that, I stand by my remarks, although I would like to point out that they are directed at Nerve's dubious editorial choice, and not at the Israeli military. If it makes any difference, I assure you I would find it equally weird to see Nerve do a "Sex Advice From Hammas Militants" segment. Most importantly, I have no ill will towards those kids, who are obviously much too young to be policy makers, and are doing the best they can or at least the best they know how. I hope they are able to perform their service without doing or suffering any harm, physical or otherwise. "Tittyfucking Not War," that's my motto.

The situation over there is not black and white and before you talk about bulldozing buildings think about the buses that explode in Tel aviv and the innocent people that are killed in the process.
