I don't think there is anything wrong with a woman demanding that her man remove his pubic hair, I have agreed to do so because she hated to wind up with hairs in her mouth after oral sex. And it is perfectly fair, surely every man who gets his wife's lips around taht area can see that. In the changing room I assume that the guys who don't shave have very poor relationships, or very atrditional women.

For the bottle-dyed, one doesn't have to worry about the carpet matching the curtains- and we all know self confidence comes from attention to details.

Sorry, but I don't buy the idea that emasculation, in the case of men shaving, is "looking good," just emasculated.

Shaven woman make sex feel (and look like) like pedophilia. Maybe that's the perv shavers are trying to embrace (legally) but where does it end? No thanks, hairy women is fine with me. The shaven look is a major turn-off.

interesting indeed. fodder here for both camps. i was a teenage in the 80s, and penthouse girls were closely shorn then, so i was effectively programmed to prefer that look. few lab rats are more effectvely conditioned than a 15 year old boy that has an orgasm every time he looks at a specific image.

Incredibly interesting. I wondered how all this hassle came about.

I am pleasantly surprised by this article. Being a German-American (and non-shaver), I find the shaving movement quite the commercial/consumer phenomenon. The references to the inciting of depilation are slightly different from what I have researched. Apparently Gillette was looking to expand it's market in the 1920s and as a result targeted women and/or feminists who wanted to be the equals of men. Thanks for your thoughts

Another excellent article in this series - certainly the most consistently good regular on Nerve. Having digested this compact history of hair, does loving a plentiful supply of body hair make me modern or old fashioned? Not that I care - I'm quite happy with my wife and I's inner animals!

Great article, very informative. I don't mind soft body hair so much, but for me it's more about cleanliness and comfort than anything. I don't mind my gf having pubic hair - on top, but none in between the legs because - like the article says, it traps sweat and smell. Same for armpits. I don't care for leg hair as a matter of comfort. Leg hair tends to be corse. If I'm in between my gf's legs I don't want to be all itchy. Same if I'm sucking off some dude. He has to be clean or I'm not going down, and his leg hair has to be minimal.

I still like those wonderful lyrics to one of my generation's anthems: HAIR I'm hairy noon and night ... I'm hairy high and low ... Gimme a head with hair, long, beautiful hair, Shining, streaming, gleaming, flaxen, waxen.... Flow it, show it, Long as God can grow it My hair! YEAH!

Interesting history. I can say love a woman with hairy pits and pubes. Don't like the hairy legs or the huge jungle bush, though. Love the nice, bald mound, too. Hell, I love 'em all!
