Stats were per the Census Bureau... --KenM 11/08 |
In spite of any statistical inexactness, it was still a pretty good read. And, in my opinion, the last paragraph basically sums up the resons for the decline. --CGW 11/07 |
I second that doubt about your opening stat. No way that married households went from six of seven (85%) to 50% in eight years. I suspect your first number was meant to be "between 6 and 7 of every ten."
Also, it's hard to sympathize with the poor psychiatrist's husband who just can't make ends meet. Please. I am a psychiatrist in Spain. After more than a decade of experience, I make about $50,000/year -- which is an average salary for a medical doctor here. In the states, physicians typically make double or triple that. If they can't get by on that (plus his income from 3 (?) jobs), then maybe they need to take a look at their expenses instead of whining about their lack of income and free time. --CPR 11/04 |

"Fell from one in seven to one in two"?
