Hi Virginia Vitzthum,
Hopefully this E-mail will reach you and I'd be pleased if you could give my E-mail some attention.
I'm George Vitzthum leave now in Leeds W.yorks.UK
Originally I came from the Bavarian Highland Southern Germany, but my grandfather came from Salzburg in Austria.
I'm sure you have been told about the importance of the Vitzthum in the early middle ages til the 19oo century.Well when I moved to France and later to England I was told by my parents that our name Vitzthum bears the Hallmark for good behaviour so for the names sake where have I missed out?
Before I come to my last sentence,I feel some times 50 sometimes 8o years old, probably depending on the lady who might sit next to me.
Not PC dating but worlwide travelling were resposible for 2 marriages ( well thy needed my help to get a British Passport) well again "lies " not genuine love applied for the ladies.
Mid September 2008 I'd be in NEW YORK to attend my daughters wedding and Iwould very much like to meet some Vitzthums in New York, would you be intersted to meet me ? Do you know any other Vitzthums in New York ?
I'd love to hear from you,my life stories are not boring either.
Kind regards from George Vitzthum- georgevitzthum.@ntlworld.com --G.V. 07/30 |
ok, sure im a teenager, but i know the destructive power of online dating. my first girlfriend was online, and i hadnt even met her. she was a mutual friend, but the point is that she ended it in a week. then while upset over that, i met my friend's ex girlfried, because she sent a friend request to me on myspace my accident. well, we fell in love and now to this day we talk all the time and have our futures planned out. sad, maybe, but working, yes. and the only reason why it works in person as well, is because i really genuinly have fallen in love with her, and so has she for me. but if its a sort of just, casual online thing, dont expect it to be the same in person. --B.P. 12/02 |
is there a dating site out there that approximates the old nerve? i really miss it--i had the best experiences; fast cupid is mostly generic, inveterate upgraders by comparison.
also, did this article get edited down after it was first posted? i came back and read it again and it seems different. odd. --ER 09/27 |
Everyone lies on online personals, even if it is little white lies. It's kind of annoying. To reply to the mature woman complaining about the lack of quality in her dating pool: I'm a 30 year-old male and feel the same despondancy about my online peers. Nobody seems to be what they say they are. As girls move into their 30's their baggage and social issues seem to multiply. There was the girl that had a 'dad' fantacy so would hook up anonymously with men in their 50's. I mean many many men. Then there was the woman who forgot to mention she was paralized from the waist down. There was the girl who lived in a completely different state than she said she did. There are the woman who have been dumped by everyone she's ever dated. The woman too concened with acting 'tough' around men to make any emotional connection possible.
Don't worry so much. My grandfather was dating in his 80's. There is in fact someone out there. It is just a matter if time to find them. --ajh 08/03 |
I enjoyed your description of various aspects of connecting on line for a serious relationship. I am 70 year old woman,
very attractive and intelligent. I find that most men in
the age range of 59 to 75 have many health issues and are
TV addicts and only read the sports section of a newspaper. They usually are overweight, lie about their age and submit old pictures. They are unkempt with dirty fingernails, have nose/ear hairs sticking out and smell fusty. I am appalled that they consider themselves a catch.
My pictures are current, I am 5'4" and weigh 122 lbs. I am
well groomed and keep up to date on current events and stay
active in my communtiy. I am not looking for marriage but a
friend/companion/lover/mate for a LTR. I am becoming despon-
dant as I don't think I will ever meet someone to be with again. --JMD 07/23 |
Who says I'm off the personals? --VV 05/25 |
I enjoyed Ms. Vitzthum's book and recommend it highly. It is well-researched and entertainingly written. The people who found relationships were inspiring, though my own recent round of online dating pretty much paralleled hers. I too have since had enough of C+ dates with guys who have a shifting relationship to the truth and considerably scaled back my use of the personals. I completely agree with her criticisms of the Nerve personals since the acquisition by FriendFinder. It is far from user-friendly now and the larger database is not a plus (quantity may be up, but quality is lacking). Reading the book made me nostalgic for the old site. --MA 05/23 |
Sarah,
Repeat after me: there is no such thing as Nerve Personals!
You are not fooling anyone!
You've sold the Personals to Fast Cupid, so you don't have it anymore!
I don't care that they still give you money for advertising, it's not Nerve's style and attitude anymore,
it's just another generic dating site.
