Nice article, it's cool to see that these guys aren't as obtuse as their lyrics would lead you to believe.
Funny thing about the previous comment: We moved from L.A. to Albuquerque when I was eight years old, and lived there for four years. This was in the mid-1970's when ABQ was supposedly at it's peak of criminal activity -- and yet, for a kid from L.A., it was basically paradise.
It always kinda cracks me up when someone says something like, "Yeah, man, I lived in the really *bad* part of Des Moines." I mean, come on -- I'm from fucking L.A.

Last I knew "the Duke City" was the Murder Capital of America but that was only back in the Seventies. I lived there for five years back in the early Nineties. Any allusion to that period is merely nostalghia. A certain desire to seem dangerous.
Albuquerque is mostly LA without the annoying references to Paris Hilton, just the malls and highways. And Hollywood.
