Reader Feedback on "Reader Poll Results"
Interesting. For all the textual distraction, the numbers go to show that most folks are starry eyed, i-numerate, trampolines. No one seems to think that middle age and inertia happends to them. That's not a bad thing. Just sad as far as the numbers/self-awareness breaks out. -David

The even split on people responding to question 17 boggles the mind. Every study on the subject of the mental health of children coming from cohabitating parents clearly shows the benefit of this homelife structure, whether one agrees with it or not. Do people just not read?

Interesting mix of optimism about monogamy and informed skepticism here … on the one hand 65% think monogamy is great and hope to pull it off, and another 12% think society should do more to encourage it. On the other hand you see some pretty European attitudes here – 66% say having children out of wedlock is perfectly fine, and another 31% think its too bad but people should not get flack for it … 98% basically thinking kids out of wedlock should be considered ok in our society … I have to think these numbers would have been quite different a few decades ago. 71% think open marriage is a reasonable social contract, and 49% said they would consider an open marriage or are undecided … interesting stuff. 87% think divorce rates will stay the same or increase, and 51% say they would have children outside of marriage. I think there is some real evidence here of a shift towards a kind of post-marriage philosophy, or at least a watered down version of marriage.
