Nude Models Manipulate Their Bodies to be Both Sexy and Unflattering (NSFW)

The human body is a weird & beautiful thing.

What lengths must we go to in order to overtake the overwhelming amount of Photoshopped physiques in magazines, ever tormenting our self-esteem. Seeing only the prettiest photos of people, then continually comparing ourselves to them, can take its tole on the norm you feel your body should look like. With the series, Illusions of the Body, photographer Gracie Hagen hopes to prove there is no "normal."

Hagen isn't the first to explore how manipulating one's body into media approved poses can achieve the society's definition of attractive. But instead of showcasing one individual who breaks the unwritten standard of beautiful, she shot a number of participants with a range of body types, ethnicities, and genders. Using the exact same lighting and angle, she had each model pose in one "attractive" stance, followed by one arguably unattractive pose in order to provide a side-by-side comparison.

The result, which Hagen hopes can help solve a lot of body image issues, concludes that it's all an illusion, a manipulation of your body's reality. All bodies are beautiful. And all bodies are weird. Let's get over it.
