This NSFW Photo Series Takes An Artistic Look At Voyeurism

The project reveals what happens behind closed doors.

Photographer and filmmaker Joe Wehner's photo series "The Roommates" is an exploration of the vice of voyeurism. The images, often taken through a crack in the door, depict women in various states of undress, bathed in sunlight, seemingly unaware that they are being spied upon. The shots are seductive, giving the viewer an exhilarating sense of catching someone in a private moment. Wehner's inspiration for the project came from an early interest in voyeurism, as he told Nerve, "It probably all started because I was a very shy child and young adult so I felt more comfortable observing the world than participating in it. That mixed with puberty and curiosity and we arrive at a strong desire for voyeurism."

"The Roommates" series is Wehner's first photo project featured on his website This Voyeur's Life, and is soon to be followed by a  couples-only project and later a self-love series. "The Roommates" book will be released in early 2015 and his film series will premiere this summer.
