I swear, when it comes to nightlife in the Bay Area, there is plenty more to do aside from going to The Fox. That doesn’t change the fact that I’ve spent two out of two of my last Saturday nights there, though. Why is it so irresistible? Well, pair up a hands-down classy venue with a string of fantastic shows, and I might just be back there next weekend, too.
This past weekend it was all about Tegan and Sara — a band that I’ve admired for a long time, equally for their unique brand of indie rock and for their perfectly charming personalities. The show was a mix of songs from their new album — lots of synth and guitar paired with some amazing lighting effects — and some of the most endearing on-stage banter I’ve ever seen. The crowd was loving it, the sound was fantastic, and I couldn’t help but wonder if The Fox ever has a show that isn’t classy and awesome.
If you haven’t got a copy of Tegan and Sara’s Sainthood to rock out to, I’d highly recommed it. In the meantime, I might just have to check The Fox’s calendar for next weekend.
