As Steph mentioned that a suited gentleman on his Vespa riding through Midtown was one of the sexiest sights she’s ever seen, a hip girl in a long summer dress in Washington D.C. riding a scooter was one of the sexiest sights I’ve ever seen.
One thing particularly struck me — it wasn’t a Vespa. I was blown away! It was modern, yet retro, with a green and white paint job. What was this mysterious scooter?
“A Honda Metropolitan,” my cousin said.
Immediately upon returning to his apartment I researched as much information on this scooter as I could. I was very pleased to find that it was super fuel-efficient (as scooters are expected to be), still in production, and half the price of a Vespa! And on Craigslist, you can snag one of these for $1,000 or less!
If Vespas = cool, stylish, retro, trendy, then Metropolitan = cool, stylish, retro, trendy, and cheap.
So for all you folks that crave to own a Vespa one day but can’t quite commit $4,000 to a scooter, the Metropolitan is the way to go while still maintaining the retro cool and sexiness of riding a Vespa.
