A few nights ago, I went to a screening party at a friend of a friend’s house — it was an adorable apartment in North Oakland, complete with gorgeous hardwood floors, Victorian mouldings, and an impossibly cool domed ceiling. Basically, the perfect spot to do any kind of party hosting. And — as I would find out — the perfect little love nest, too.
While on a tour of her digs, Simone presented her bedroom: a simple, modern, and completely comfortable oasis. The Marimekko wall hanging was the first thing that caught my eye, because it equally filled up the wall (and with those domed ceilings, that was no easy task) while giving the whole room a sort of "urban forest" appeal. Turns out the piece was an incredibly affordable find at CB2, and it matched up perfectly with her dark gray Therapy curtains and eclectic vintage furniture. Simone declared that the best way to spruce up a space is "to pair up unexpected pieces — an Asian antique with a bright modern print, or a found dresser with a set of fancy knobs from Restoration Hardware. There are lots of ways to make your space look neat without totally breaking the bank."
If her place is any indication, then I’ve got hope for my own decor… not to mention my own little love nest.
