The Big Lebowski: the cultural bible of our generation. I’ve been to midnight screenings, hosted Lebowski parties (Maude is my personal character of choice), and even attended the Lebowski bowling tournament in SF. TBL is, in fact, so dear to my heart that not loving it is kind of a deal breaker.
On the other hand, show me a guy who loves the Dude and is able spout clever conversation about his cultural significance, and… well, let’s just say I’d be in love. Which is why things like The Year’s Work in Lebwoski Studies exist. With over 500 pages of essays about how and why TBL matters to the world, this book will definitely give you lots of conversation starters. Just check out the table of contents:
I’m salivating it’s so scholarly-sexy. And yes, you should order this book right now.
