What’s a look that would make you approach someone at a bar?
Boy-ankles. Boys that cuff their pants. So you can see their boy ankles. Yes.

Commentarium (70 Comments)
They all look too hipster for their own good.
you were never young?
yeah, but never hipster.
And never better.
ha most of them are gay! the third girl is hot
Yeah, not too hipster, too gay. But they tend to be better dressed right?
Black is for funerals, duh.
Yea a bit too hipsterish for anyone to take seriously what they say.
Number two should stop going to bars that are frequented mostly be goths.
In America they are called "Hipster", in England they are called "D1ckheads" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVmmYMwFj1I
eh, same thing
Adam is adorable. If I knew where he hung out, I'd buy something teal and go sit at the bar. Also, this is a fashion column, nerds. they're supposed to look cool/different/not wear gap.
I love Erin's outfit but the rest of her outfit is a mess.
Ferdinand's shoes look too clunky for his small frame. However, out of the bunch I like his outfit the most.
I love Erin's coat***
Evan is the shizznit. He's too cool to care about clothes and only wants his special someone to be appropriately dressed for the weather lest they catch a cold.
They all look great. As it says in the title, these are New Yorkers. In NYC, this is just how fashionable people dress. It has nothing to do with being a hipster, it has to do with being creative with an interesting aesthetic and caring about how you present yourself
uh... no. If you want to see how fashionable people dress anywhere go look at the Sartorialist. With one or two exceptions these people just look like young NY hipsters, which is not in fact synonymous with fashionable. It looks cool to other NY hipsters, but mostly it looks like a mess.
I like all their styles except for Ferdinand (#4). But, that is just my own opinion.
I like this segment, will it continue?
Erin's style is great but she looks really annoyed. Sheesh...sorry someone admired your style.
Nah, they were both sweet!
thanks cindy! ...i actually wasn't annoyed, i was flattered. :)
That's a pretty narrow fashion spectrum. It appears more like a hipster yearbook.
Adam looks like Waldo (of where's Waldo fame), no?
I get that all the time!
Is it weird that I don't mind hipsters nearly as much when they're gay? Is it hetero-guilt?
Nah. I feel the same way, and I'm gay, so it must be something else.
Hey Erin. Fucking smile, ok
:)
Erin, I dig your scowl. I'd totally approach you in the bar... regardless of what you're wearing. Oh, and you'd definitely like my ass.
No one looks good in ill-fitting clothing.
These people make me want to avoid NYC at all costs.
I don't even live in NYC, you might just want to stay at home forever just in case.
Ferdinand is adorable. If he's got an accent too, then sign me the fuck up. I'd let him borrow my ridiculous pants if he would let me borrow those ridiculous shoes.
Ferdinand did have a very attractive accent. Perhaps you've found your dream man.
Oh man. You have no idea how hard I'm swooning right now.
Worst article evar.
ever*
This is by far the worst article I've ever seen. Focusing completely on the hipster, which most of NYC (aside from Brooklyn), freaking hates. These are the last people in the world you would want to take advice from.
They're not giving advice. They're talking about looks and traits that they personally like.
"I don't really care as much about fashion as I do about utility" Bullshit, then you wouldn't be wearing the vintage mickey pin or any jewelry. Also your pants wouldn't be so tight you can't use your pockets.
erin - boy ankles. so. damn. true.
whenever my boyfriend shows up in cuffed pants i get weak in the knees.
Where's waldo? Er...Adam?
I'm so glad I'm not hipster enough for any of these people to ever approach me outside of a retail setting.
They probably wouldn't even approach you then. It my experience, anyhow. Hurr!
Holy hipsters, batman! God damn. (and not in a good way)
fyi to all the people hating on "hipster" fashion, you will all be wearing versions of these trends in 5 years when they show up at your local department store. If you don't like fashion, don't real a fashion blog
#2: Found Wally in NYC.
Shannon is HOT. Hey Shannon, I have a great ass! :) (And yes, I'm female and yes I'm gay).
Why are there so many mean comments?
Very pretty outfit, Erin!
And also, <3 ur look, Shannon!
I love people who come to Nerve and then complain about hipsters. This is one of the most hipster-ish sites I've ever been to. And i'm pretty much a hipster!
It's like a hipster bomb exploded and everybody got hit.
And...ha ha, you're gay.
Where's Waldo?
I just want to beat the shit out of hipsters. All of them. Simultaneously.
Adam is the only one smiling.
Ferdinand reminds me of a child playing dress ups in his parents' (or grandparents' in his case) clothing.
I hate when boys cuff their pants actually.
Hey, that's poerwful. Thanks for the news.
Great stuff, you hleped me out so much!

Thank you a lot for the very good article about this post. It’s worth to buy an essay about this topic.
That is easier to pay for essay than to complete research paper yourself. Thus, do it and focus on your family deals.
A lot of students don’t know that is no problem to have an A+ grade! All they have to do is to buy essay papers.
People deserve good life and business loans or secured loan will make it much better. Because people's freedom bases on money state.
I had got a desire to make my business, but I didn't earn enough amount of cash to do this. Thank goodness my dude told to use the mortgage loans. Thus I received the student loan and realized my dream.
