You know who doesn't like Gawker? Female Republicans. Probably some other people too, but mainly female Republicans, particularly the ones who have had their asexual escapades documented on the site. And the ones named Sarah Palin, whose publisher HarperCollins is suing Gawker for leaking excerpts from her upcoming book America By Heart.
The excerpts were published on Wednesday and feature the Mama Grizzly's thoughts on American Idol, Bristol's pregnancy, and the movie Juno:
A European movie might have had Juno get her abortion in the opening scene and then spend the next hour and fifteen minutes smoking cigarettes and pondering the meaning of life. It would have been depressing and boring.
Apparently Palin's never seen a Hal Hartley film, because that kind of business is definitely not exclusive to Europe. Anyway, so that's what prompted the Alaskan to tweet her anger at Gawker, and HarperCollins to sue. Gawker's claiming protection under the fair use law. I really hope that this ends up in the Supreme Court, because that would only make Aaron Sorkin's future-feature-length film Palin v. Gawker even more awesome.
