Black Friday shoppers are surely some of the most terrifying individuals on the planet. And when news broke that an unidentified woman in Los Angeles had pepper sprayed her fellow shoppers in her quest for an Xbox console, well, they shot up to Jack Nicholson in The Shining levels of frightening. But it seems she's calmed down from her outburst and turned herself in to the police.
A woman gave herself up around 8:30 last night, but was released without being charged or booked. Though she fit the suspect's description (Latina woman in her thirties, five foot three, one hundred and forty pounds), the cops are still conducting interviews and reviewing security footage before they take more decisive action. If prosecutors choose to pursue this case, the woman could be charged with battery.
About twenty people, including some children, sustained minor injuries after the woman pepper sprayed a crowd of bargain hunters at a Wal-Mart located in the Porter Ranch neighborhood of L.A. on Thursday night. She reportedly then grabbed one of the Xbox consoles, paid for it quickly, and left just as fire department personnel were arriving to treat the victims.
Hopefully the supposed pepper sprayer's surrender gives potential copycats pause, since the last thing Black Friday needs is weapons. Well, unless they're Nerf guns. Because that sounds kinda fun.
