Former chairman of Bank of Alexandria arrested in New York for sexual assault against maid

It's the most upsetting trend of the month. While the world is still up in arms over Dominique Strauss-Kahn's alleged sexual assault on a New York hotel chambermaid, another case has popped up. The former chairman of Egypt's Bank of Alexandria, Mahmoud Abdel Salam Omar, has been arrested in New York City after allegedly holding a maid against her will in his hotel room at The Pierre. Reports are saying that the incident happened Sunday night.

Okay, so he's innocent until proven guilty and all that. But, we wrote last week about the link between powerful men with high-risk careers and sexual assault. And it's pretty distressing that they seem to be proving us right.

On a separate note: how outrageously stupid would you have to be to commit an identical crime a week after your very high-profile colleague is in the news for it?
