Homophobic group warns Disney-goers of "Gay Day"

Shield your children's virgin eyes. The Florida Family Association purportedly spent over $7,000 on an airplane to pull banners alerting Disney World goers of "Gay Days." Their mission: warn people that they were about to be exposed to "the reality of witnessing over 15,000 Gay Pride Day revelers." How dare a major tourist attraction tolerate alternative lifestyles during normal business hours? It's Mickey and Minnie, after all, not Mickey and Donald. According to the FFA:
"Disney requires special events like Grad Night and Night of Joy to be held after the Magic Kingdom's regular operating hours. Disney does this to avoid having a large group of likeminded people in the park at the same time with regular patrons who expect a normal day at the Magic Kingdom."
Somehow I don't think they'd be boycotting a bunch of drunk high-school seniors bombarding the park if "Grad Night" was ever held during the day, because they also say people "turn around and leave" when they find out that gays have taken over the Magic Kingdom, a land otherwise brimming with fairies, princesses, singing woodland creatures, and other not-at-all-queer imagery,

The American Family Association has been labeled a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Looks like we can add their Florida branch to that list.
I wouldn't want to go if they had a "biker day" or "tree hugger" day, either. So who cares if they blew $7000 on an ad?
'' patrons who expect a normal day at the Magic Kingdom."
What is a normal day at the magic kingdom, not being talked to by men and women dressed as talking animals?
I always thought Gay Day was an unofficial thing?
It is. But some people think Disney should freak out and somehow forbid gays from entering the park. How they think this could be accomplished is anyone's guess.
It would kind of suck to show up to Disneyland without knowing that a special event is going on. And just because you are comfortable with gays doesn't mean everyone is.
It would kind of suck to be so narrow-minded that you're afraid of gay people congregating.
Just because you are comfortable with bigotry doesn't mean everyone is.
Better to just ignore "man." He's a hateful idiot.
It's not a special event. Disney takes no part in it whatsoever, I should know...my sister worked there for 6 years.
So in general, you can't just handle unexpected situations? You can't put up with...reality? They don't take over the parades, they don't act like they are in a gay club, they are people and enjoy feeling like a part of a community just like everyone else. They made up a day where they want to have fun at Disney World (Disneyland too), so what?
Man up buddy, man up!
The point of this article is to point out how incredibly hateful and committed to discrimination this group is. How can you defend them?
Yeah, but it would also kind of suck and be kind of unconstitutional to go to Disney and be turned away because you're gay... If "Gay Day" is an unofficial event and whatever group celebrating it is not booking the park, they should be allowed to go whenever, just like anyone else.
While it's not unconstitutional to encourage people to leave rather than be around gay people, it is ridiculous.
Disneyland isn't turning anyone away.
I didn't state that they were, or would....
Nice of them to help advertise 'Gay Day', but a theme park --- even one full of gay people --- is the last place I want to be.
The more stunts like this gay people pull, the less support they are going to get for their rights.
I think this onion piece does it best to get what many people object to:

lol, way to quote "The Onion"!
Betty, you don't know how satire works, do you?
Or was this a troll using satire?
I mainly wish it cost 'em a lot more than 7k...
Shit, Gay day is June 4? I scheduled my disney vacation just to get around Heterosexual Ass-less Chaps Day on June 3!
Would there be a plane and banner for African American day? Jewish heritage day? Single mom day? Chicano pride day? Irish heritage day? Amputee day? Downs syndrome day? Mensa day? Dodger fan day? Square dancer day?
Just another example of small-minded people trying make us afraid of anything different.
