Because why not, right? To strengthen his increasingly diverse CV, James Franco now co-runs a bar in Los Angeles. And while some joints might settle for a mere grand opening, the Writer's Room (yes, that's what it's called) plans to make a splash by hosting a top-secret Academy Awards party. As icing on the cake, musical entertainment will be provided by — you guessed it — James Franco.
As Franco told People, presumably with a straight face:
"I'm a partner in a bar that's opening up, and the after-after-after-after-party is going to be at my new bar. It's at a secret location. And that's what I'm looking forward to because I'm going to be singing there at the bar. I'll be singing at the Oscars, but there will be a private performance at my new bar. It's called the Writer's Room. It's in L.A. That's all I can say because I can't fit everybody. Everybody at the Governors Ball will not fit into my new bar, but it'll be going down."
Isn't it sweet, though, that he sounds apologetic about how not everybody will be able to get in? So if you happen to run into Franco at the after-after-after-party and ask him where he's going next, don't be offended when he becomes evasive — it's just that his amazing new bar doesn't have enough space for the likes of you.
