This year's Pulitzer Prize winners were announced today, and marked a big win for Jennifer Egan, whose endlessly buzzed-about A Visit From the Goon Squad took home the fiction prize.
Other winners include Ron Chernow's biography Washington: A Life and Kay Ryan for poetry, while an unexpectedly diverse group of newspapers were recognized in the journalism categories. The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times won an expected two awards each, while smaller papers like the Sarasota Harold-Tribune and Newark Star Ledger also took home prizes.
Major congrats go out to Egan for the continued recognition of Goon Squad, easily one of the best and most exciting books of 2010. Check out the full list of winners over at the Pulitzer site, and let us know what you think in the comments.
