Silvio Berlusconi calls on George Clooney to testify at his prostitution trial

As many of you already know, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is being accused of paying to have sex with a seventeen-year-old Moroccan girl. And who does he think can get him out of this mess? George Clooney — Berlusconi thinks George Clooney can get him out of this mess.

The AP reports that the Italian leader's defense has called on the actor (as well as other, less famous people) to testify as a witness in the upcoming prostitution trial. In case you've forgotten, this is George Clooney:

So what does this unfairly handsome movie star have to do with Berlusconi's prostitution case? We have no idea. And neither does the actor himself; as Clooney said in a comment to Entertainment Weekly, “It seems odd since I’ve only met Berlusconi once and that was in an attempt to get aid into Darfur.” We'll let you know if Berlusconi's wish comes true, though it probably (and perhaps unfortunately) never will.
