Before Whitney Houston's death, Target produced a greeting card that read: "Next time you think of dating the bad boy, consider Whitney Houston. That's all I'm going to say."

The card, of course, pokes fun of the rocky relationship between Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. Now that Houston has died (in case you missed it, her funeral was broadcast live throughout the universe), Target has doled out the apologies and removed the cards from their stores. It's hard to say what's worse: the fact that these cards were made in the first place or that someone actually thought they were funny. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about making fun of abusive relationships (not really, actually), but the card itself sounds like advice your drunk aunt hands out during Thanksgiving.

A Target rep released this statement:

"The card was in our stores prior to Houston's death. As soon as this was brought to our attention, we began the process of removing the card from all applicable stores." They go on to say that it was never their intent to offend their customers. A done deal I guess, but I'm still left with some questions about what they were originally thinking:

1. Why is this a greeting card?

2. Who are you going to greet with this card?

Y'know, I read this and thought - "Wow, I AM that drunk aunt". To be fair, my nieces & nephews are still pretty young, but that sounds like me+alcohol, sure enough. Roll on Thanksgiving circa 2022...
