Texas Christians unhappy with new restaurant, “Fat Ho Burgers”

With the terrible memory of David Koresh long behind it, Waco, Texas is back in the news again, but for a much less serious reason. Namely, Fat Ho Burgers. With a pimped-out menu featuring the Supa Fly Ho with cheese, the Sloppy Ho Brisket, and Tiny Ho kids' meals, Fat Ho is drawing attention, and not all of it welcome.

Twenty-three-year-old proprietor Lakita Evans, who worked her way through college to fund the restaurant, defended the name, saying "It's not calling people a ho. It's just like they say, 'Oooh, that ho is big,' or, 'That ho is tight!'" Exactly. Fat Ho has lines out the door and has received positive critical reviews. But is there a Christian cafe and book store nearby that doesn't share that enthusiasm? Of course there is.

The Gospel Cafe & Bookstore is none too pleased with the den of iniquity controversially-named burger joint. Said Pastor Marsha Martie, who volunteers at the cafe, "I wish they would have had a more sensitive name. That would have been nice to think a little more sensibly." There is also a Facebook group called Keep Waco Texas Positive, whose aim is to persuade Evans to change the name of the establishment. But all seriousness aside, it would be ironic if an obese prostitute ate there.
