11% of Britons have slept with someone they met on Facebook, study finds

A new study of 2000 Britons concludes that 11% have had sex with someone they met on Facebook, which kind of gives the lie to Facebook-is-tearing-us-apart hand-wringing, even thoughtful and well-written hand-wringing like Zadie Smith's in last week's New York Review of Books. Note that that's not people they're already friends with — it's people they met on Facebook. Facebook isn't just facilitating hookups with your friends — it's actually leading you to new sources of sweet, sweet love. Granted, this study was conducted for Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew, so God knows what assaults on the scientific method were involved. But still. Poke someone new today. (Actually, don't — I don't think that works very well.)
