Gay soldier Dan Choi rejoins military after DADT discharge

Lt. Dan Choi re-enlists in the military

This afternoon, military recruiters were ordered to accept the gay applicants, according to a statement by the Pentagon. While something tells me that this announcement won't cause the sort of gay stampede that California's temporary marriage legalization did (just a hunch), it did send at least one man to his local recruitment offices.

Lt. Dan Choi, the soldier who was discharged under DADT and has since gained fame as a gay-rights activist, is attempting to enlist in the Marine Corps this afternoon. It's still unclear whether his attempt will be successful, but if he fails, it's likely to be on a technicality, since the Marines don't accept applicants from other branches of the military. At least for today, however, they do accept super-duper gay ones.
