New hotel for gay men only to open in Mexico

Newly married (or unionized) gay couples may have a new ideal honeymoon spot — at least if they're male. A new luxury hotel that caters exclusively to gay men will open next month near the Tulum archaeological zone on Mexico's Riviera. It's named the Adonis Talum Hotel, which seems apt, since we're betting the clientele will be pretty hot.

Oh, and good luck trying to sip cocktails by the poolside, ladies. According to the resort's general director Patrick Lurenz,

"The hotel is uniquely for men. That is to say, only homosexual couples are accepted. It's not for women, although among our personnel we have heterosexual men and women and all have received specialized training to avoid having our guests feel uncomfortable or discriminated against."

I guess the idea of a safe, welcoming space for gay men is sweet in theory, though doesn't it seem just a tad discriminatory toward lesbians and other LGBT groups? Perhaps the Aphrodite Hotel won't be far behind.
