New York is a hell of a town. You name it, it's got it. And you can now add "the card shop with pole dancing" to the list of things to see along with the Empire State Building next time your aunt comes to visit.

Though it's only been open for a few months, Jill Anne, on the Lower East Side, operated by the card designer of the same name, has made a name for itself by featuring the owner pole dancing in the middle of her card store. Jill-Anne says she has a pole in the middle of her shop because she wants work to be fun, and if she wants to have a little downtime, there isn't a water cooler or a Starbucks nearby. I'll ignore the fact that that's a lie (there is a Starbucks on nearly every corner of this city) but only because this might be the boost the greeting-card industry needs.

Jill-Anne says that seventy-five percent of her customers are women, so it's not a "male lust thing" but "an empowering woman thing as well." Of course, she has cards with pole-dance themes, but with the holidays upon us, Jill-Anne might want to rethink the strategy of every fifty-dollar purchase getting a pole dance, before she burns herself out.

If you can't make it to New York, here's a video of Jill-Anne pole-dancing in the middle of a road. (No, I don't know why.)
