PETA has a porn site in the works

PETA: say what you want about them, but they garner publicity in ways that make Kim Kardashian look like some awkward undergrad with a Tumblr and an iPhone. Example: their newest endeavor is a XXX porn site.

"We live in a 24 hour news cycle world and we learn the racy things we do are sometimes the most effective way that we can reach particular individuals," the organization explained.

Well, okay, generic enough, but what can I expect when logging onto a PETA-run porn site? A spokeswoman said that there will be "enough adult content to qualify for the XXX domain site but also some other graphic images of animals that viewers may not expect to see," which sounds more like the old-fashioned "gotcha" move that PETA would resort to.

However, it also sounds terrifying. The last thing I want with my porn is footage of animals being inhumanely slaughtered. Besides, I'm fairly certain that's already growing in some of the darker corners of the internet.

Then there's the issue of casting:

"There will be a lot of girl and boy next door content, but we haven't ruled out celebrities on the site as well… People who are extraordinarily dedicated to helping animals and who are willing to do whatever it takes to draw attention to the suffering they endure."

PETA has done ad campaigns featuring porn stars Ron Jeremy, Jenna Jameson, and Sasha Grey, so maybe this move isn't exactly without precedent. Plus, there was this ridiculous ad two years ago, which might be a teaser trailer of sorts as to what we can expect from the upcoming site.
