Zurich sex boxes for prostitutes

When the neighbors complain and the johns request a little more privacy, most prostitutes resort to taking their clients to shady motels, where things can easily get out of hand. (See: the Craigslist killer and that scene in Leaving Las Vegas.) The city of Zurich, Switzerland believes it has the solution: sex boxes.

The idea – imported from German cities like Essen and Cologne – is being proposed by Zurich police chief Daniel Leupi as a way to let prostitutes work in a more discrete way.

The idea comes after thousands of complaints by householders whose homes overlook the thriving red light district in Zurich.

'They get up to all sorts in broad daylight – and we're sick to death of looking at it,' said one.

Police spokesman Reto Casanova (his actual name) said: 'We can't get rid of prostitution, so have to learn how to control it.' [Metro]

Hear that America and your 17 attorneys general? We can't get rid of prostitution. Just because he's taking about a European city doesn't mean the facts do not apply here.

"I am but one half of the problem / Zurich is stained and it's not my fault…"
