Despite everything, The Tourist grosses over $200 million dollars overseas

The Tourist was a bad movie. I know it, you know it, your great-aunt who still uses AOL for Windows ME knows it. But, apparently the rest of the world does not. While only grossing sixty-seven million here, it grossed over $200 million internationally. Which seems absurd.
Now, those numbers are neither record-breaking nor very impressive. By comparison, some of Depp's recent work pulls in two or three times that amount. But we're talking about The Tourist. Could it really be that Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie are that famous? I know Depp is popular overseas and Angelina's hotness translates everywhere, but aren't Europeans supposed to be renowned for their taste?
My only desperate hope is that the international box-office cash this movie is making isn't enough for a sequel. I doubt it, but I've been wrong thousands of times. They keep making Saw, Fast & Furious, and Scream movies, after all. So, when The Tourist 4 drops, remember that I warned you.

Europeans don't have better taste in films. In fact, they eat up pretty much any American turd movie with a megastar. Tom Cruise still kills it in Italy.
The whole world knows that Americans have no taste and are more into scatological infantile humour or testosteronic explosive movies.
Proof, they went en masse seing 'Grown Ups, Just Gow With It and Little Folkers' (all rated at 10 % in RT at best) and rated 'Jennifer's body twice as high as The Tourist.
I rest my case
Are 'Europeans' the only people who live outside the USA, then?
For the author, an American probably, the outside world consists of 4 other continents : Europe, Europe, Europe and Europe.
And by the way, the biggest market for The Tourist is so far...China, then Russia, then Italy, then Japan. Japan even in those tragic situation may pass all of them in the coming weeks.
Saying that The Tourist is a bad movie like there is a universal tool to rate it as such is what IS RIDICULOUS.
That's why Americans are perceived as arrogant. How can you say such a thing about a movie when it all goes down to PERSONAL taste and cultural sensitivity.
Once you get that simple notion, maybe you won't be stunned about a movie being well received abroad and consider it as an anomaly.
After all, a country that has proppelled Kim Kardashian (after the idiotic Paris Hilton and her trubulations in jail breaking the news like it's a world affair) as the latest phenomenon who will even interview the likes of iconic Elizabeth Taylor, shouln't be astonished that the outside world doesn't follow them in everything...in one way or another.
If some stupidity like the Twighlight BS can make cash eveywhere without you acting like it's an aberrations, the movie can do it in a market that won't comply to the american concensus. like sheep do.
Have you even consider the possibility that it was a good movie? It was well directed and great acting from everyone. Alright not so deep but please tell me a deep movie? tron legacy which did plain well in the states (based in their budget) or perhaps Iron man 2? please.
Write more carefully next time. Because you didn't like a movie doesn't mean it is not good. When you are asked to write an article you are not asked to write a personal review on a movie.
And yes in EU we like our Hollywood actors but only in a good movie.
and it was a european production behind the film. Is this why Hollywood snub it?
