If you were one of the people who thought that the Lord of the Rings trilogy was too short — and I'm sure there are at least a few of you out there — rejoice! The first trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has arrived, and given that the film has more or less the same creative team and more than a few returning actors, it fits right in with LotR.
Maybe it fits in a little bit too well? I don't want to say the movie is redundant or anything — I am certainly looking forward to Martin Freeman's big turn on the silver screen — but this trailer seems to go out of its way to play up how much like the first films this will be, and while I understand the marketing appeal of that, it's a bit disappointing. Where is the dragon? I want to see the dragon, damn it!
All that being said, I am still going to see it. Definitely on opening day, probably at midnight. It's really the least I can do to cosmically make up for that time I went to a midnight screening of Twilight: New Moon.
